Megan Hong

UCLA Molecular Biology Institute

Biochemistry, Biophysics, & Structural Biology

Megan joined the Loo lab in the Summer of 2023. She received her B.S. in Biochemistry from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts in 2020. During her undergraduate years, she worked on using machine learning programs to determine protein function from solved structures in the enolase protein superfamily in Dr. Mary Jo Ondrechen's lab. After graduation, she worked for two years at the Broad Institute's Center for the Development of Therapeutics developing biochemical and biophysical methods for small molecule drug discovery. At UCLA, Megan is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases through extracellular vesicle biology and multi-omic approaches to enhance the development of diagnostics and therapeutics. She is co-mentored by Dr. Gal Bitan.
